Hey, im kind of new to this whole anime studio thing so i have a couple of things im having trouble with.
when i import a jpg file, i select draw, and i always choose black and white (so i can colour the object in after) but after i do this i have a problem with the patch layer.

in this picture i have a standard arm rig.
the one on the left has a patch layer on it and i didnt remove the black background on it, on the right i removed the black background and added a patch layer and it looks way better, i was wondering if there is a way to get the left image to look like that without removing the black background because it takes the black outlines with it as you can see with the hands and fingers. ( i drew the hand how i want it on the left but once i remove the black it makes it look like it does on the right)
i was just wondering if its possible to draw and colour an imported object without having that black background on it.
this is what the hand looked like before i import it http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/54 ... thand.png/

Re: Patch and drawing question AS8p
You need to learn the drawing tools in AS to get a better result.
Automatic tracing doesn't recognise a line as a line. For the software a black outline is just a big black shape under a bunch of smaller coloured shapes. This may work in some cases, but is not really the best way for animated objects.
Try to re-create the arm with the drawing tools of AS. Then you'll have a shape and a black outline which is much easier to control.
