Bone Layer Order

If I start an animation with a bone layer outside of a house & I want to have it walk inside the house how would I animate the bone layer switching from behind the house layer on frame 1 to in front of the house layer on frame 96?

put both layers in a parent layer and in its settings enable 'enable animated layer order' under the depth sort tab.
Now dragging the sub layers while in frames other than 0 will store the new stack order of your layers. They create keyframes on the parent folder, so you can move/delete frames from there.
