A question about depth

Post by kilerb »

How do you make certain points behind others. I have a body and a head (He's neckless) and his head is behind his body and i want it in the front. I think they're on the same layer though.... If they were on seperate layers I would just move it above. Can I do this? I looked in the manual and it says to select the shape and hit the up arrow to move it to the top and it didn't work... Maybe they mean something else or i'm doing it wrong.

Thanks!

Try this: select the Shape Tool and click your shape
You should see the "Checkerboard" now
and choose Lower or Raise Shape.

Hi thanks... I selected the head and the only way to make the red grid that i found is to hit "create shape" which i did. But the raise and lower shape arrows are greyed out. So i can't hit em... HELP! :D

...You must select any previously created shape with the "Select Shape" tool (the first tool in the Group Fill of Tool Window) and you will see the checkerboard texture... then, you can change shape order with Up/Down Arrrow keys (in your keyboard) or with the arrows in the Tool Window... HOPE help you! :)

If you put your shapes in different layers, you can change the order over the time checking "Sort Layers by Depth" (in group layers if you have your layers inside a group or in Proyect Settings Window if not, better both...), and playing with Z Depth position of the layers... uf... HOPE explain me! :?

I presume you haven't filled your shape with any colour yet.
As long as you see the "red checkerboard" there is no fill colour.
Hit the spacebar and your choosen colour will fill the space.
Now you can rise or lower the shape.

ahhh, so you have to fill the shape in order to move it back or forward? What if you don't want it filled?

Well, then you shouldn't be bothered about "layering" -
you won't see the fill anyway.
