Spheric motion

Hi Everyone,
I have no experience in creating 3D animation in AS Pro (I have both 8 and 9 versions) and I need to make an animation reproducing the movement of a sphere, e.g. the Earth, like the one you can see in this Google web page:

Could you please give me the basic steps to achieve this goal?

Create a half circle line using 3 points or use a triangle shape and delete one edge and use the curve tool to make it a half circle. Now add a image texture to it using a rectangle map of the earth. Enable 3d for the layer.

Or you could do it like this. Make group, put a vector layer in it and make a circle with no fill. Duplicate it 2x. Now rotate one of the layers to x=90 and the other layer to y=90. Now just rotate the group layer's x and y to get the movements you want.
