Music video: Animation mixed with real life footage

Post by elbramtsol »

Hi, LONG TIME NO SEE YOU! (yes, that was screaming sorry) :)
I started using Anime Studio (moho) many years ago. It helped me to get some jobs as an animator and eventually as a motion graphics designer using After Effects (for commercials and stuff). Now I'm trying to do my own things in my spare time.
The song is in spanish. I hope you like it!

The flower is telling how sad and how "porquería" he feels because he does not have that special one besides him. ("Crap" would be the equivalent of "porquería" but in spanish that word does not have a harsh connotation.)
Then, when he calls her she just scream to him "Capullo" (which means "little bud") :D
He just starts to dance "¡aunque se rompa la maceta!" which means "Even if it breaks the flowerpot!".
I hope that my english does not confuse you more

Programs used:
Anime Studio Pro
After Effects
FL Studio (for the music)

The animation was integrated seamlessly into the live action. Very well done.

Really good. How did you match the camera jitter? The whole thing is quite convincing.

Hey thanks! Well, there is an external application that comes with After Effects called "Mocha". Mocha is an excellent 2D tracking software that comes with After Effects since CS4(?).

What you do is that you first create a shape in Mocha in the area of the footage that you want to track. Then, you can copy that information of movement and literally paste it into the layer that you want to keep "sticked" to the tracked area (in this case was the flower to the floor).

If you want to know more about it and you have access to After Effects please let me know, because I think is one of those effects that you always want to keep under your sleeve :)

Yes, HitFilm comes with Mocha also but I've not had cause to use it yet.
It certainly works as the flower always looks part of the scene.

EDIT:
Neeters_Guy this is a brief demonstration of camera tracking....

This is great. The animation is funny even if I can't understand what the flower is singing.

Thanks! Basically the flower is telling how sad and how "porquería" he feels because he does not have that special one besides him. ("Crap" would be the equivalent of "porquería" but in spanish that word does not have a harsh connotation.) Then, when he calls her she just scream to him "Capullo" (which means "little bud") :D

Very catchy song even if I don't understand what's being said. Extraordinary mix of live action and animation. Really nicely done! This should go on the Smith Micro site as an example of what can be done.

elbramtsol, amigaman,
Thanks for the info on Mocha. I'll have to put HitFilm on my wishlist. :)
