There seems to be a few choices when applying a drop shadow to a layer.

If I set parameters in the 'Effect 2' tab of the shapes and styles box, then they don't show up in a preview render.
A drop shadow will render if I set it up in the actual Layer settings under 'Shadow'.
I'm guessing the Layers setting Shadows tab is more for shadows responding to 3D lights (assuming there is such a thing in ASP).
I'm just trying for a paper cut-out look with drop shadows.
How to apply drop shadow to layer?

I think I have to create a style and then apply that style to the shape for it to show up in render. Does that sound correct?

Re: How to apply drop shadow to layer?
Anyway, I think using layer settings is the way to go for this.
