How to open a custom content folder in Win7 ?

Post by wabbeljabba »

Hello,
I am relatively new to AS and absolutely new to this forum and it is maybe the most stupid question, but how am I to open a new custom content folder, that I have managed to create before? You can see my problem exactly in this video at 0:12:10:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbZpBoSnk6M

I can create a new folder as the guy in the video does and then he browses with Help/Open Costum Content Folder to the location, but instead of showing how to open another existing custom content folder he switches back to Mac. But you can see the problem: There is no OK-Button in the file-browser, so I can browse to the location but cannot open it. Did I completely overlook something? How is it supposed to work?

To make it more clear: I would expect having the browser an OK-Button or Open or something or double-clicking the desired folder, but when I do so, the browser shows me just the content files, if there are any, and does not open it in order to make it the aktiv content folder for AS.

Greetings to everyone who can help me

I have Windows 7, and I would simply go to Help > Set Custom Content Folder... > Select the main folder that was created then click ok.
Do you not have this option? Or am I missing something?

Thanks for your reply, jezjones29, and I am glad to hear, that the content folder works for you. And yes, I have the option to set a new folder and get AS running. But since I want to take advantage of the tool- scripts and the scripting possibilities (I am trying now to manipulate the freehand tool by Fazek to make it work like the drawing tool in Illustrator CS2 concerning the drawing correction method) it would be of a big help having the possibility to change the custom content folder easily. According to the presenter of the video it is AS's concept.
What happens when you use Help/Open Custom Content Folder on Win/PC. Is there an OK-Button to open a folder so that you can switch to another one and open that? My file browser does not allow that for, so this Open Custom... menu is completely useless for me.

Just to confirm, I'm using Anime Studio 9.5.
I think you're using the wrong option:
Help > Open Custom Content Folder... will open the set directory
You should use...
Help > Set Custom Content Folder... will allow you to select and change the directory

It seems you are probably right. My concern was, that if I use the option Set Folder it overrides the existing one with all its content, because this option is creating a new folder if a folder does not exist yet. But an existing folder is not being overwritten. For that reason switching folders works pretty well. I assume the Open... option must be for opening a file in a folder plus using the original associated custom content folder, what not necessarily would be the case if you use the simple Open File menu. But the user manual does not point that out.

Thanks, jezjones29!
