Oi

Is there a way to add a keyframe on every layer in a selected group/bone layer? I need to move the skeleton and some points around, and doing this would help me get my timing much quicker. As of now, I have all my skeleton animated, but the only way i can time the point movment is to go back and fourth and put a keyframe of every layer (lots of layers).

are you saying: I want to do something on lots of different layers on frames j,k,l, etc which are where my bone manipulation keys (or other "group" keys) are? if so then you could enable OnionSkins and set timeline markers at frames j,k,l, etc so you can see where the group keys are in the timeline without needing to go back to group at every stage.

if that's not what you wanted, then ... keyframes aren't layer things.. they're things that are in an animation channel. To get an idea of just how many channels you might have in a layer, run the Scripts / Script Writing / List Channels tool. if you wanted to create a key in every (active) channel at a given frame then go through each layer at that frame and invoke "Freeze" (control-F) from the Draw or Bone menu. Then move things around and move on to the next point in time. It might be obvious to you, but just in case: remember that if you "freeze" at two different frames, then move some points around at a time in between those frames that movement will be undone in the second "freeze"... it's sequence in timeline not sequence of input.

if that's the sort of thing you wanted, then it's not a big deal to turn that into a "key the whole document"... but the question is "key literally everything" (might be 100s of channels per layer) or just key those channels that are being used? (e.g. Freeze bones wont freeze bone translation unless / until you've got an active bone translation channel); and same remark applies about sequence in timeline versus sequence of input regarding animation (but/and if you do a lot of "freeze" without moving (translating) a bone then decide to move one, you'll need to add keys for that translation manually at your "freeze" points in the timeline).

Thanks Hayasidist! the add keyframe in the animation menu does exactly what I wanted because it adds keyframes in all the sublayers as well.
