Free Upgrade to Anime Studio 10 from version 9.5

I heard and read somewhere that if you have the physical or digital copy of Anime Studio 9.5 you can upgrade to AS 10 for free. Is this true? Or do you only get a discount if you are an owner of the previous version?

Okay awesome! Well I got the software back when it first came out, does that mean I qualify for a free upgrade? If so, how does that work?

I have had an online chat with customer service, and I've been told that you must have made an official purchase from Smith Micro within 30 days prior to the release of Anime Studio 10 in order to receive a free upgrade.

Which sadly means I'm not qualified.

It seems so, but - I do fall into this category but because I took advantage of the recent offer I don't get a free upgrade 9.5->10, in addition when I am looking at the upgrade differences between going from 9->10 and 9.5->10 there's a £0.10 difference...which means in my case the 9.5 upgrade was pretty pointless, well, other than the fact it has added $50 to the upgrade price of version 10! confused? confusing? hmmm...

I'm a little annoyed that I was tempted by the discount upgrade price from 9.0-> 9.5 and then heard that 10 was due.
Could have waited and gone from AS 9.0 -> 10
Will certainly choose my upgrades a bit more wisely in future.

other than the fact it has added $50 to the upgrade price of version 10! confused? confusing? hmmm...

On the upgrade page, going from 9.5 -> 10 is $100
Going from 9.0 -> is $150

It looks like the $50 upgrade didn't do much of anything, it's kind of a wash.
