Not very practical
Kinda wasted some time tonight on something not very practical. Really just for my own interests sake. Thought it was worth a share though. (but not much of a style choice for anything but robots or something) Too bad AS 3D shading doesn't really lend itself to this kind of layer rotation layout.

You never know where you will wind up using the knowledge you gain from this type of experiment.

It looks good, but why is that robot hand giving me the finger? I don't even know that robot hand!

Testing new things is the best not very practical thing you can do.
Here's another not very practical hand

experimenting and just messing around is how I got to where I am today...for better or worse...The way i see it, If you're playing video games, you're not being productive. If you're playing with yourself, you're not being productive. If you're playing with AS, regardless of the practicality of your results, you're being productive. Keep it up.

Something I toyed with in AS 7.
Re: Not very practical
It looks extremely good, and I like the dialog, though I'm really not sure I want anything that as made in "Enema Studio."

Nice sbtamu
Did you use bones with this setup or just rotating your layers? My test has a separate bone layer for each of the fingers, and then several other shapes in with them (wrist/palm etc.) in a group together. Then just started rotating that group around. Didn't get around to trying out incorporating other bones or seeing if smart bones could be used in any way.
Seems like the smooth shading looks a little better on yours. But maybe that's just because it wound up making the "top" of the fingers so counter-intuitively dark in some of my angles. Anyway, I like it. Who needs Maya, eh?
Hey, maybe we can build a bitchin' robot together sometime

I can't even begin to comprehend how the 3D system works in this program, but then again, it isn't necessarily my style. Although, you guys make it look very appealing.
