Everybody is doing headturns so.....

Post by lawnmower70 »

Still very much an amateur at this. I noticed some problems after I had rendered this out(floating right ear grrr) thought I fixed it, plus the whites of the eyes kind of bleed out. And, need to work on my profiles for this guy. Learned a lot doing this one, (hopefully anyway). I tried to use smart bones to move the mouth, but I think I prefer switch layers, just like the look, as well as for eyebrows and eyes. Anyway, tell me what you think.

i like it :)

Nice character, and I like the jumpy turns - which make the few super smooth movements seem out of place... perhaps on those sections, change the interpolation to move on 2s or 3s so that they just look like more fleshed out hand tweens rather than automated super smooth computer generated ones.

I prefer switch layers for the mouth too. The great thing with SB's is you only need one switch layer for phonemes. It makes things simple.

Same here. I didn't notice the mouth though, I did notice that the head turn looked quite good.

I should clarify, sometimes I'm either so tired (I usually work on this stuff after work) or excited to post it I just throw a post up quick and don't get all the info down. This was done with a switch layer, I had tried to set up the mouth to use smart bones, but wasn't having any luck with it, and didn't like the results as well.

Thank you for the kind words! I love this software, even bought toonboom studio thinking I would want to do frame by frame stuff, they had it on sale sometime around christmas, but have hardly touched it, because I love what I can do with anime studio.
