Coffee House Conversation

Post by Pinesal »

A couple weeks ago, Will and I went out and took a bunch of pictures and some video of downtown Portland. This video was taken in a Starbucks. We plan do use this background and the other pictures occasionally in our Nick and Will cartoons.

The live action background is a cool concept and it's working well in the short. But I didn't get the joke at first. Maybe when the guy is explaining what the towel is like, an image of the new towel he received could show on the screen so the audience is clear on what the towel is. That might set up the joke better.

No, I think that would slow it down unnecessarily and send a telegram about the ending. (Do people still send telegrams? Memo to self: jack in to that information superhighway thingy...)
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

It's worse that that, as generally that expression would be to "telegraph" the ending, and no one's used a telegraph since the 1800s or so.

The joke was only OK, but it still made me laugh thanks to the gratuitous laugh track and rimshot. The animation was great as well, good blending of elements.

Man, this looks really weird. I like it a lot. Is there a way to develop Close Ups on the characters without distorting the live-video too much?

I guess I could have shown Will's towel so people had a better idea of what it was. Sometimes it's hard not to assume people know what you are talking about.

I think this is a 720p video capture with my smartphone. There wouldn't be much room for zooming. If it were 1080, I might be able to.

This one - in contrast to the music video - was available for viewing in Germany. You should add Geman subtitles, Germans are big on anal humor.

The animation was impressive. I liked the slice of life background.
