our feature requests

Post by norco »

Hi, we`re a small animation team, making an animation TV series, working on Moho, which is a really great animation tool. We`re satisfied with the results (and also our producers :), though there are some things that, form our point of view could be improved :)

new features

-bezier controllers

-an editable curve editor bezier-based

-a basic object collision system (and audio collision)

-a more complex IK system

-a more complex snap system (point, line, center snap)

-keyframeable center of the layer

-particle audio collision events

-radial blur

-a noisy image distorsion (atmospheric heat effect)

functionality improvements

-configurable shortcuts

-shortcuts for every import type or a unified Import dialog for all types of files and the ability to

import multiple files

-the ability import multiple layers from a moho files at once and a drag-and-drop import dialog for

moho objects as for image layers

-an easier way to select the keyframes of a bone chain

-an easier way to select layers (right-click in the work area - photoshop style per ex.)

-save display (and optional, menus) settings in file

-save (codec, frame rate) render settings in file

-autosave (auto back-up)

-the tool in use should not change when a clicking another layer is right-clicked

-right click - contextual menu & pan - middle mouse down, as in 3ds max per ex., for Windows users

-a more detailed "Preferences" menu, including on&off onion skin, dock&undock windows

-an thumbnail for every layer in the layers menu, or the ability to assign a colour to it, at least

hierarchical (main layers a colour, other layers another), for better management and faster

vizualisation

-Shutdown computer when finished optional in the batch export window

-display elapsed time and estimated time in the batch export window

-a detailed information window during the render including codec and size chosen

-save, load batch export lists

-more options for the grid & snap

-scale bone available in frame 0

-dragging keyframes should allow jumping one over another

-depth of field should work to camera zoom to simulate a depth movement

bugs

-Moho crashes due to timeline drag or playback

-a better refresh in the layers menu, and soundtrack play

-scroll becomes unavailable ocasionally in the layers menu

To be frank, what you're asking for is a 3D program. You'll find all those features in XSI, Maya and possibly Max as well.

Although 3D software is more expensive, if you've got a TV series budget, the extra initial cost will pay for itself during production.

Wow. I've never seen a feature request list I've had to scroll before...
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

the only request which involves 3d is this one:
-depth of field should work to camera zoom to simulate a depth movement; the other requests could turn into some really nice improvements in future versions of Moho, in my opinion; I`m aware that something like "particle audio collision events" is a rare and expensive feature in an animation software, but something like "autobackup" would save a lot of time for anyone who works 10 hours/day in Moho. I`m really confident that many of these will be included in future versions of Moho and we, all the users will take advantage of them.

WOW! Guy, I think that you have beated in only one post all my Feature Requests figure record! :D and  ...But well, the best is that I agree with you in almost all things! :) And many of they have been still discussed in the past... I agree too that you don't ask for nothing that must be specific to a 3D aplication and, in that case if it can be useful and bring us freedom/liberty (and maybe felicity :) ), why don't asking for? 8) Now I quote they for I'm asfing for a long time ago:

-an editable curve editor bezier-based (obviously).

-a more complex IK system (specially inprobed "Lock Bone" feature).

-keyframeable center of the layer (since the first time I ran Moho...)

-radial blur (are you refferind "directional" blur?)

-an easier way to select layers (it'd be nice, yes...)

-a more detailed "Preferences" menu (...more options! :) ).

-more options for the grid & snap (YES!)

-scale bone available in frame 0 (I ALWAYS have wanted/desired...)

-dragging keyframes should allow jumping one over another (silly limitation).

-depth of field should work to camera zoom to simulate a depth movement (I'm not sure what that means, but I think all Depth of field feature should be revised by LM cause it is actually completelly USELESS!) Plus, it should be an animatable feature...

-a better refresh in the layers menu, and soundtrack play (of course).

And well, many others things that have been forgotted and losted in all the forum space... *CIAO!*

PD: Only a one more thing, I can't believe you don't asked for a "Z-buffer" to vector layers to can work in a true and logical 3D space layer ordering (plus the possibility of crossing layers in the space) ...Am I missing something?

You misunderstood me - the feature set you're asking for is what you would find in a 3D program, it doesn't necessarily mean they're 3D features.
