Playing Media Suggestions please

Post by DK »

Hi,
I recently completed an animated promo for a company who wants to play it several times a day in store.
They also want a slideshow of 40 images to play directly after each screening. I tried placing an AVI copy of the
animated promo on a USB drive and then created a folder on the USB drive with all the images they want in the
slideshow. Unfortunately the remote control navigation is so time consuming this setup is not working.

Is there any other way this may be automated other than creating a HUGE movie file of the animation and
slideshow together?

Any suggestions appreciated!

Thanks

This may sound heretic, but what about using Flash or PowerPoint? They both play movies as well as images, and Flash will loop through whatever you put in it. I don'tn know about Powerpoint, but it should be able to do the same. And there might be other programs (Keynote?) which could serve for this purpose.

powerpoint?!

insert the video as an object on one slide; set automatic (timed) slide transitions; and set the slideshow "loop continuosly"

This would be an external PC solution rather than a USB or DVD?

ah - you mean it's a TV not a PC that you're plugging the external media (DVD, USB) into?

windows DVD maker will let you set up stills and video ... I'd need to check if you can make it automatically loop, but it will certainly step through items

[edit :] yes, it will loop, it's in the playback settings.

Yes...sorry. It's a large screen TV display in a shop. The USB functions are ok...but nowhere close to allowing automation between different media formats. (Images and Videos).

well, if you have the option of a dvd player, I'd go that route... if it has to be USB .. er ... for $50 you can buy a DVD player.. probably cheaper and quicker than anything else (unless someone out there knows how to use a USB as a DVD player?)
