Export Audio only?
Just wondering if anyone knew if AS has any way to export only the audio from the timeline into wav (or really any audio format really...)
I realize that it's a little backwards to even want to export an audio file from an animation program. But I was just curious because other video editing software often allows settings for video only/audio only/or both, and if there was a way it maybe potentially could be useful to me for something.

Heh, thanks. Short and sweet. But maybe too short...sbtamu wrote:No
"No" you don't know of any way.
or
"No" it can't be done.

No, there is no way to export just the audio in .wav or. mp3 from AS.ddrake wrote:Heh, thanks. Short and sweet. But maybe too short...sbtamu wrote:No

Re: Export Audio only?
Not sure why you'd want to to do this because if you have audio inside your ASP scene, then you obviously already have an audio-only file.
But if you really need to do this, here's a workaround: simply disable all the graphic layers and render an mp4. What you end up with is essentially a compact audio file since the video channel is technically empty. Most audio editors can load mp4 files for editing.
I know that's not exactly what you're asking for but it's a way to do it with the existing software.
Alternatively, you can render your animation in any video format that supports audio as you would normally, import the video file to a video or audio editor and extract the audio to an audio file. Almost any video or audio editor should be able to do that easily.
Hope this helps.

Re: Export Audio only?
Thanks, and yeah I already figured this would be the quickest way. And you're right, there's very little need to do this, but in a couple cases I have pulled in a couple additional audio sound effects into a sequence and timed them to in progress animations. Just looking for a quick simple way to basically pull a mixdown back out of anime studio for timing reference.Greenlaw wrote:Not sure why you'd want to to do this because if you have audio inside your ASP scene, then you obviously already have an audio-only file.

Re: Export Audio only?
Also, Windows Movie Maker has an audio only export.
Re: Export Audio only?
I always cut an animatic first, with audio. Then, I export an audio clip from each each scene on the timeline, which is what I bring into each ASP scene for animation. I usually give myself about 4-8 frames of handles, head and tail just in case I need to slip the action slightly in edit. Usually
IMO, working from audio based on the actual edit will be more efficient and accurate than slipping inside audio in ASP. Just a suggestion. Naturally, final mixing should be done in video editing and/or audio mix.
Hope this helps

Re: Export Audio only?
I don't know how it works in Movie Maker but in some editing programs, you can set markers around each clip on the timeline and export the content between markers as separate files. Or some editors allow to double-click the edited clip and allow you export the audio from just the selection. There's probably some equivalent for your program or a similar workaround. Hope these ideas are useful.

All of this is true, and essentially how I typically work with things.Greenlaw wrote:I always cut an animatic first, with audio. Then, I export an audio clip from each each scene on the timeline...

My question only stems from the rare occasion where I had pulled in a couple additional audio clips into the sequencer in Anime Studio to test things out after I was already working with the animation. And since I do already use Premiere to export audio-only to use in anime studio, I was just wondering if (though counter-intuitive and largely pointless) AS could do the same. The reality is that it would be just as effective to time those clips into the final edit in premiere anyway, or pulled back into the mixdown before even going to anime studio, and sync the animation to the audio as it should have been in the first place.
In the end, this is just a long way of discussing that AS cannot directly export an audio only format, and that I don't really need it to, and perhaps no one should.

Anyway, thank you guys for all the input
