Screen Marker - Useful (and Free) Windows Utility
I'm finding Screen Marker to be useful for visually marking reference points on the screen. In the past, I mainly used this tool for marking key positions, paths, arcs etc., in 3D animation and visual FX, and now I'm finding it handy in ASP too. Think of it as an alternative to using a grease pencil or erasable marker on your screen.
You can download it here: http://www.screenmarker.com/
Maybe it will be useful to other ASP users.

Oh, I almost forgot: because ASP doesn't have a ruler, here's another on-screen tool I find useful:
ScreenRuler
I usually keep the transparency set pretty high, 50 or 60%. Alternatively, I keep a layer with non-filled shapes (mostly rectangles and squares,) to compare sizes and spacing between objects--this is especially useful when comparing item positions and sizes across time (in a different way from onion-skin view, I mean.)

Re: Screen Marker - Useful (and Free) Windows Utility
I found another screen marking tool that I like even better and it's also free. It's called Epic Pen:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/epicpen ... source=dlp
Just like with ScreenMarker, when you want to continue working after marking up the screen with Epic Pen, just click on the Pointer tool. Your screen markings will then stay on-screen while you work away in ASP or whichever program you happen to be animating in.
One minor issue I've always had with ScreenMarker is that the Clear Screen button only clears the screen when you start drawing your next 'mark'. Epic Pen's Clear Screen button however clears the screen when you click it, which is more like how I would expect it to work. Oh, and the Hide Ink button is a nice additional feature--it let's you hide your screen markings without deleting them.
Enjoy!

Ohh...even better still! I just discovered it has a highlighter mode which marks your screen with 'transparent ink.'

Epic Pen has been updated to version 3.0. It now supports hot keys for the tools and commands. It just keeps getting better.
