Zoom parallax

Post by Konrado »

Hi, my name is Konrad and I have been using Anime Studio Pro for almost two monts now.

I'm totally new to animations. Everything I know, I have learned with the online video tutorials, which are really great! But now I have just hit the wall.

I'll try to explain my problem as simple as possible, as I am not a natural born English speaker :)

I have managed to learn how to create depth and the parallax effect. I have set up a forest scene, and when I pan the camera left/right/up/down, I have a nice parallax and depth effect. But now the problem:

I'd like to zoom into the forrest, between the trees, so the camera passes the trees. When I do it now, the trees appear to be static. I'll try to rephrase that - I'd like the trees to move aside when I zoom pass them. Is this effect even possible in AS? Or do I have to do more than just setting the depth of the objects with SHIFT+ALT+Drag? Depth of field is of corse enabled.

I would be really thankfull for a quick answer, because as long as I can't solve this issue I'm stuck with my project.

Have a good one! Konrad.

Select the camera tool (4). It has 3 values: x, y, and z. The default z value is 1.7321, to capture the artwork on z = 0 so it fits the frame.

Your artwork should be on layers with z values like 0, -1, -2, and so on.

Go to frame 1. Click into the project window to create a camera key. Go to a much later frame (like 100), set the z value of the camera to 0. Replay. The camera moves forward, and all visible layers should move and scale naturally.
