"turning the pages" style

Post by Víctor Paredes »

hi. i want to share a book. it was made to be printed, but yesterday i decided to make a virtual version.
sometime ago i had seen Alice in wonderland in bl.uk (the british library), in a section called turning the pages, and i have the idea to do something like that.
well, here is:
http://media.putfile.com/tan-liviana

it cotains four tales that i wrotte and pictures that i drawn.
are in spanish, but this is not important, i want you see how moho can be used to things like that too.

(note: this video hasn't play buttom -its in quicktime vr format- if you want to move it, you must drug the mouse on the video to the left or the right)

Really nice! Great simple idea and illustrations!
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

well. this is a little, how can I say it... burocratic??
first, I design the book in coreldraw 11, this is a version to print, the book is a little gift to some people.
then I made a jpg from each page. I put this jpg in wings3d, where I create a cube. then on one face of the cube I put the page one and, on the other face, I put the page two. (the cube is thin, as a paper). so, if there are 12 pages, will be six cubes.
in wings i divide the cube in several parts... this is to have points to put the bones after.
uf... then, in moho I take each page and i put the bones to them, to give it the turning page effect. (i only made one skeleton, and i move it, then i duplicate it several times and I put in each page, in this way were faster).
THEn... when it were all ok, I animated the book, page by page to the end, and in the end i turn the book to return to the start.
with this animation ready, i render in a avi.
Then, the avi were opened with corel photopaint 11, and I exported to "quicktime vr" format.
as quicktime vr is a format in wich the user move the video, this give a effect of have a 3d book wich you can control.

That's all.
sorry by my poor poor poor english... I hope to be useful.

thanks for your feedback!

Clever. And your English is a damn sight better than my Spanish! Maybe we could teach each other!?
