OK... I think I found a bug!
In version 5.2.1 I can import an .mp3 as a soundtrack - in version 5.3 I cannot. They don't show up in the browser for selection.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Any ideas?
Many thanks.
Can't import .mp3 for soundtrack - possible bug with 5.3?

As I undersatnd it, the new audio support (cool because it's really cross-platform, and faster t'boot) uses libsndfile (google it) and they seem to have no intention of supporting MP3. I'll have my mixer done in a bit, and I( wasn't gonna support it either. If you really need it for the end product, you can drop it in in the editing soft of choice.
Thanks
Thanks for the reply.
Must have missed that bit of info.

I didnt check out the mp3 format in 5.3 yet, but if it really doesnt work, just convert your mp3s back to *.wav or *.aiff.
EDIT: I checked it out now. You theretically still can select mp3s as soundtracks, by simply typing in "*.mp3" in the "Filename" text field.
Then you are able to see and import these files.
The thing is: It wont be played back or seen in the timeline.
But i tried the following:
I selected an mp3 as soundtrack and of course it didnt show up in the timeline and i couldnt play it back.
I exported the project as quicktime movie and:
THE SOUNDTRACK WAS BACK AGAIN!??
SO all in all, i think this is a BUG, right?

No, this isn't really a bug. It was an intentional tradeoff - to give up support for all the file formats that QuickTime supports in exchange for smoother playback. It shouldn't be too hard to convert your files to WAV or AIFF.
If you do tell Moho to use an MP3 file, it won't show up in the timeline, and you won't hear it, but Moho will have a record of that file being the soundtrack. So, if you then export a QuickTime movie, that MP3 soundtrack will be included, since QuickTime does support it.
