Weird Flipping Problem

Post by Hans Rickheit »

I posted about this earlier, but nobody has replied, so I 'll try posting again.

I'm very new to this program, so I'm still learning how to use it on a basic level.

When I try to use Smart Bones, I encounter the following problem. When I name a bone and click "Okay", the character flips over upside down. Can anybody tell me what may be causing this? I cannot suss this one out on my own....

Here's a screenshot:

It's hard to tell what is happening only seeing the screenshot. Is there any chance you share the anme file?
Also, it's not a good idea to create two posts for the same issue. If you need help, try bumping up the same thread. You must consider a forum is not a chat. The help can arrive the same day you post (and many time it does), but you must be prepared to wait a couple days or more.

Thank you for the speedy reply. Forgive the multiple posts. Some forums have their own rules of procedure and etiquette. It'll take me time before I learn to work within your own.

I'd be more than happy to share the file. Where/how do I send it?

you can upload it to dropbox or any other server and then put the link here.
Now, if you want to share it privately, you can send it to my gmail, it is viparede.

Please note that when you open the file, many of the body parts are not visible. I attempted to start a smart bone with the "neck", but as previously stated, when I hit "okay" after naming the action - the whole body flips over....

Ok, I found the problem.
The bone B1 has Angle Constraints from 180 to 180. That means you forced it to rotate into that specific (and totally closed) angle range. You only will see that rotation limitation on frame 1 or beyond, that's why it appears when you create an action. Because creating an action automatically moves you to frame one.
To solve it, use the select bone tool, select the bone B1. Now open the bone constraints popup window and uncheck "Angle Constraints". The bone should work nicely now.

WOah! Wild!

Okay, thank you so much for solving that dilemma! I shall try to be vigilant about that in the future!

I hope this thread will be useful to some other nincompoop with the same problem!
