How do I start? haha

Post by divinedakota »

In all seriousness, I can show you guys some pictures I just drew, but like, I have no clue how to turn them into an anime (Animation) and what not, if any of you guys could help me over, skype or possibly chat with me somehow that would be really awesome!! See I can draw well, and I have a (Wacom) for drawing on the computer but I actually have no clue how to animate it.

It's a big question with many answers...

Let's start with a question:

What equipment do you have?
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

Get a book about animation, you'll need it. A good one would be http://www.amazon.com/Animation-Pencils ... gy_b_img_b.

But realistically all the information, is just, himself saying it, he isnt really teaching you how to perform it... just what i should have knowledge of lol. I need to know how to take the things I draw, and create a life from it. I need a pro on here, or someone decent enough, to get on like skype with me, and screen share and go step by step, i am willing to pay

Well, it's helpful to know, for instance, that you have (or are going to get) a scanner. It's also helpful to know that you have a drawing tablet and a selection of animation programs. Slowtiger is right -- you probably need some general background info on animation; I always recommend Richard Williams' "Animator's Survival Kit".

"Animator's survival kit" is not for beginners.

@divinedakota - You have two tasks here: learning the software and learning animation principles. The books address the latter; for the software part you should read (and do) the included tutorials. If you prefer the step-by-step approach in video form, you might try Incredible Tutorial's Steve and Alien tutorial:
http://www.incredibletutorials.com/cate ... the-alien/

Your eagerness is apparent, but be sure to temper that with realistic goals. Animating is like any skill, it's takes practice and dedication, and isn't something you learn in a week.
