Smart Bones Question

Post by Hans Rickheit »

I'm still experimenting and trying to learn the program. It appears that I am missing a vital step when using Smart Bones. When I feel that I've made the necessary corrections to a character, (say, the position of a neck, which is what I'm working on) I try to go back to the Mainline in panel zero. the bone remains highlights in bold, and the Manipulate Bone Tool, and the Add Bone Tool is no longer available for me to use. How do I correct this problem?

AS updated the Tool Palette a couple versions back. To reduce clutter in the workspace they introduced a smart tool palette, which
shows and hides tools based on their need. So if you have a Group or Vector layer selected you will not see all of the Bone Tool options. Select your Bone Group and all of your options will come back.

That tools are not available when you are inside an action. Go to the Actions window and double click "Mainline".
The timeline should change its color to confirm you are not inside an action anymore.

Thank you! Previously, I was clicking on Mainline with no effect. I guess I just wasn't "double-clicking" hard enough....!
