So I have this nice rig of a man set up in ASP 9.5 and have completed a 360 degree head turn. I have set every appendage into their own folder, including the ears. I have animate layer order enabled and have the ears moving in front of and behind the head depending on the direction the head turns. But an interesting issue pops up.
If I try to set any other appendage to move behind the body or head while the head turn action is being used, that appendage refuses to stay behind the body or head. It is forced to remain in its place as if the head turn action is overriding the placement of the other unrelated folders. Is there a way to rectify this?

Re: Animate Layer Order Issues in 9.5
There is only one layer order per group, so if a smart bone is active, nothing else can change layer order. Try to group things you need layer ordering for logically. At the very least, put the head in its own layer ordering.
I don't think we had nest bone control in 9.5, so you may need to make the groups bone layers.

Re: Animate Layer Order Issues in 9.5
Darn. I was hoping that wasn't the case. I suppose I'll have to put the ears in the head folder, which is already full of many layers and masking layers.
But even so, If I have a Smart Bone action that turns the body, or head, and I need to have a limb folder move about, it sounds like I won't be able to do that because of this restriction.

I just remembered "sort layers by depth," which, for the moment, seems to be uninhibited by the limitations of group ordering with smart bones.
