How about a Wiki for Moho?

Post by Rasheed »

I know some of you like to see a Moho book published and I'm all for that, but until there is a skilled individual with enough energy to pull that off, I would like to suggest a next best alternative, namely a Wiki.

The advantage of a Wiki is that anyone who is registered can add or modify information and it is not up to one individual to maintain it. So if anyone has a good thought and some spare time, s/he can put that onto an existing Wiki page or create a new one.

I'm looking into a free Wiki service called SeedWiki (they have paid services as well).

So how about a Wiki for Moho?

Sounds like a great idea...
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

Well, one vote in favor of the idea is enough for me to set up a free wiki account.

See:
Moho Reference wiki

At the moment there's nothing else than a main page with some explanation and a sand box page to practice your wiki skills, but it's a start.

My only call would be perhaps replace "low budget" with maybe "affordable" on the opening page (mo' proper marketing and all that). But besides that, a capital idea and we'll see where it goes. Always thought compiling the niftier nuts-n-bolts stuff into a format like that would be cool. And since I seem to be the most interested scripting geek, I'd be happy to start a section for that. If it caused a few more folks to dive in, all good. Whatever, there are plenty of subjects that could do the wiki treatment. Cool.

Thanks for that, Brian. I can't wait to see the table of contents grow.

BTW I've changed "low-budget" into "affordable"

Just put a (very short) paragraph in as a starter...

It would be great if you could create a page on the wiki on which you write about how you use Moho (and other software) for a particular animation project.

And of course, I'd like to see project pages of other Moho animators as well.

Perhaps this could even lead to Moho users creating a colaborative animation or Lua script using the wiki. Wouldn't that be cool?

So, it doesn't have to be tech info per se.

I woud appreciate it, if this wiki grows (maybe i can put some things in someday?).

I only have one question: Do we need or have LM's permission to start this?
Cause there might be some legal stuff to do, before we get started, but well, i am not quite familiar with such things.

But, if we have the permission i'd help you with the wiki!

Nope, no permission is necessary - go for it!

That is great!

I have made the main wiki page as simple as possible. There is a brief introduction with some instructions how to add articles, followed by a list of articles (at the moment only one: "Some Useful Links").

Once the list of articles becomes too long, we could put the articles into related groups and put those articles groups (with description) on the main wiki page. But until then, lets follow the K.I.S.S. principle (Keep It Simple Stupid).
