Fixed layer between bone layers

Post by olias32 »

Hi
I have the following problem which I don't know how to solve as I'm fairly new to ASP (v.11)
I have the character in the attached image inside a Bone layer (body, arms, legs). The whole character moves up and down all the time, and is hitting the table in front of him regularly.

How can I have the table between the body and the arms, so that the arms show up on top?

I've tried z-depth moving w/ preserve scale (Shift + Alt + drag layer), but that only seems to mess up the bones and not display the arms in front of the table at all. Since this option exists, I'm guessing that 1. it works somehow, and 2. there's no orthographic projection camera in ASP, right?
I can't put the table inside the Frog group, since the whole thing moves up and down (or can I somehow? and make it fixed?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Ok, I figured it out
I moved the table inside the Frog bone group, and then added another bone inside with no parent and I bound the table to that bone.
This allowed me to place it in the stack of layers where I needed and removed any motion

Two solutions:

-Put the table inside the character and bind it to no bone or to a bone with no movement. It's a good solution, because it would allow you to change the layers' order in time. So you could animate the character passing from front to back of the table (if the scene requires it, of course).

-Create a reference from the character and put the reference over the table. In the original layer, you hide the arms. In the reference, only the arms are visible. Something like this:
_ Character Reference: Only arms visible
_ Table
_ Character Original: Arms are hidden
Then you just animate the Character Original and the Reference will copy its movements.
