Using smart bone dial for auto lip sync?
I'm pretty new to Anime Studio Pro. I see that I can use a switch layer to auto lip sync static mouth poses with an audio file. But what if I want to sync a bone dial with that audio file, so that instead of switching from mouth closed to mouth open, it would smoothly interpolate from closed to open? So I could set up a bone dial to animate between the closed and open states, then sync that dial to the audio, so I'd have inbetween states for the mouth position. Is that possible?

switch layers can interpolate - as long as they are made up of the same points.
Create a mouth with enough points for open and closed etc, and duplicate it as many times as you need. In the layer preferences you can turn on interpolation, and the different positions will inbetween for you.

Thanks, that's a good idea, but I forgot to mention that I'm working with Photoshop files. I guess I could do what you said though, by duplicating the mouth layers at different places between open and closed. I'll try that!

so when you say 'interpolate' you mean 'fade between' rather than 'morph between' right?
in which case I think the answer is no, not automatically, unless you only have two shapes and create a smart bone that fades between open or closed. If you only have two shapes you could also create in between frames and put them into the smart bone, then turning it left and right would animate... but generally speaking a talking mouth should be more nuanced than open/closed imho

Unless your raster image face has gradients, you can use vector for the mouth. You only need to match the color and line with of your character so it doesn't look out of place.
