Bones and points moving crazy

Post by Kaby »

Soooo... hello everyone! :D
Nice to meet you all!
I've been diving myself in creating some characters with AS 11.2, quite happy with the results... however, I've been having some problems that are probably caused by something stupid that I did, I just don't know what....

Let's take bones for example:
I create a bone, no problem, I know how to do that. I use the manipulate bones on some frames to see if the animation works: it works great. I move it with the manipulate bones, it just moves, like it should do, great.
NOW, after having almost finished the character, created actions, smart bones, ect... if I add a bone, try to move/turn it, the bone just goes its own way, not following my mouse anymore, going completely out of the screen with just a tiny movement...

Same things with points:
in this case, I copy a shape on one layer and paste it on another layer. The shape does not maintain its dimension or the line width (the entire character is width 4, I have to put the width of the new shape to 15, so it's similar to the rest..which doesn't make sense to me..) and after I bind it as usual, just like the bones, it goes crazy, and move with no respect for my sanity...

I don't know if I explained my problem well enough, I'll try and take some screenshot to show you...

Someone can help? tell me what am I doing wrong...

i might because the bones are dynamic....(leave that unchecked)

((cut))
I thought about it too, but it's unchecked (also looked in every single bone, just to be sure...)

Both sound like they may be caused due to having scaled or rotated layers differently. In the case of copy/pasting points, this is very likely. May be a different cause for the bone problem, but I suspect it's a similar issue.

I had some weird stuff happen after I made a Smart Bone. What caused the problem was my testing the Smart Bone with the Manipulate Bones tool on Layer 0 instead of Layer 1 or higher. Evidently you need test Smart Bones on any Layer but 0, then delete the keys.

Anyhow, I deleted the misbehaving Smart Bone and replaced it with a new Smart Bone and the problem went away.

its a good thing you posted this here....
i'm having the exact same problem....the bones act like they have a mind of their own and i get this rickety motion anytime i try to manipulate the bones..

i haven't solved the problem yet...but i know it has to do with the actions i created..when i delete the actions created for the specific bones acting weird, they begin to respond properly...
anyone with a solution should please help out, i have had to redo my entire rig over again to see if i can figure it out.
if there's any solution, it will be appreciated a lot...cos its seriously frustrating

Smart bone action problems are usually because you've keyframed more bones is the action than just its smart bone.

In my case, they are not smartbones, just simple bones with no action whatsoever, just some points.
And now I can add that also some layers move like crazy when I'm moving the camera (while the rest of them move normally...). I closed everything, opened a new project, started drawing some things on different layers with no bones or actions or anything, and when I try to move the camera, the first layer follows to camera, the other just go crazy again...

tried this...it worked
i keyframed more than just the bone used for the action because i was trying to get actions for extreme poses..

thanks a lot synthsin75
