Jump Cycle

Post by bupaje »

Here is a required jump animation. It has some funky hand motion around frame 17 and I think there is a bit in the foot around 15 as well but I've been at it for hours -and swinging my arms in front of the mirror. Figured it was time to post it to get some feedback only have a bit over a week to finish the background layout and two animations so any feedback is appreciated.

http://www.stormvisions.com/bc/jump1.mov (about 970k)

Still finding it a little hard to coordinate all the movement -get the arc for the feet, hands, head (or in this case neck) etc all working in harmony.

It's a good school exercise, I enjoy seeing people develop.
As you mentioned yourself, you have to keep an eye on your arcs and also where the force are going.
the body breaks off from the path in #13, it should follow the force from #7,9,11.
The arms are a bit floppy, in air they go first back, then forward and then back again, you could skip the forward movement, it goes against the driving force.
Also I think you could have a little more gravity influence at the arms when they go down again, ~#31.

Thanks for the excellent links guys. Looking at them right now. :)

@rylleman thanks for the useful analysis. That "driving force" comment actually made it click for me. I'll revisit this jump soon as I have a jump sequence in my last animation. Thanks.
