I always feel a little silly posting Feature Requests for something that I know won't be even thought about until the next version (or further). But it doesn't hurt to ask.

First of all, let me kiss some butt first. Moho's particle system is awesome. Sprite based particles with quick render times! Come on! That's how the big boys have done things like realistic smoke for movies (up until now with liquids that is). And it looks great! Simple crowd animations in a 2d program!? Awesome. And the controls are simple enough for anyone (try to get a good fire animation out of Maya without knowing some programming, it's not easy).

That being said, I have some ideas for improvements on the particle engine:

1st and foremost, make the values in the particle layer keyable. You can get some amazing effects if you could just change the values on the emitter and it's particles.

2nd and this one would take some serious thought: I was thinking that simple particle fields would be an awesome addition to the Moho particle tool. Gravity, vortex, wind, etc (or maybe just a directional force tool that can push particles around). Now I'm certainly not expecting a full blown 3d particle system. I'm thinking just start small, as a particle enters a 2d screen space (user defined shape or circle,etc.) the force acts on the particle. You could even allow for alpha values defining the intensity of the force. Like I said it would take some serious thought.

Anyway, kudos on the kick butt system you've already got working for you! It really does make Moho stand out above the rest. :D

Particle fields were actually one of the things we originally had planned for version 5, but it had to get cut in the interest of getting v5 finished. (See, that's why I get in trouble if I announce too many upcoming features and make promises about what's to come.)

I'm sure it'll appear at some point in an update. The idea will be to let you place "magnets" or "black holes" around the screen - as particles flow, they will be attracted to these spots. You can set up swirling and curving particle motion with these. Using an image to define a totally customized flow field is an interesting idea too...

Ooooooo! That would be an awesome addition to an already awesome product.

Any thoughts on keying/animating emitter attributes?

OOOOOHHHH DOGGY! I haven't even scratched the surface on 5's new stuff, to think you have even more great stuff in future versions in the works.... it makes it difficult to concentrate at work. I just want to go home and use Moho!

LM! PLEASE!!! I can imagine your reply, but I can't aboid it... This post has much time and I'm wondering if you can tell us something about the progres of that, NOT a date, but a clue or something interesting... (pleeease) :roll:

I just realized that After Effects Pro's Foam effect can use gray scale images to effect flow of particles. Pretty simple but a very cool effect.

HI! But sincerly, to get this "so WANTED control" I'd prefer some kind of resource that I could manipulate and modify (even along the time) directly in Moho, so... what about use something like a Vector Layer instead an Image Layer? With this we could have a TOTAL control over the feature and in the more efficient way :) ...Another question would be how it'd works with 3D Spaced particles... but definitely I'm sure LM must have a good/perfect solution for this :) ...BYEEE!

PS: ...I can't wait more! :D
