how do I... draw a straight line..

Post by cabbage0896 »

How do I draw a straight line? this seems like a simple answer but I haven't discovered it yet. Being a hobbyist at the pro 12 version of moho I've been looking for a way to draw a line, simple right? All I've found so far is to use the arrow shape tool and the to remove the arrowhead. this works well but is time consuming when drawing many lines such as a building front scene or better yet a street scene in perspective. my question is: is there a better way? Having some Autocad experience I'm used to clicking two points and a line connecting the dots, does moho have that same functionality? If not, could it? I've tried the freehand constraints but that limits you to the axis lines and you don't have the freedom to draw a line anywhere and I want to draw anywhere...this forum works well even for the novice I can appreciate that, I look forward to a solution.

Hold shift down while using the add point tool.
Sorry for bad animation

You don't even need to hold Shift. Just click drag with Add Point and release the mouse. Voila! A straight line path. You only need Shift to constrain the line at 90 degree angles.

Because it's an open path, Auto-Stroke won't work so you'll want to apply a stroke to the path after you create it. If you're a beginner, Paint Bucket is probably the easiest way to do this.

Alternatively, you can use Freehand to draw a straight line. Shift doesn't work if you're using Freehand but you can still use it to draw a 'wavy' line and then just delete the in-between points to make it a straight one. The one advantage to doing it this way is that Auto-Stroke will be in effect.
