How to play without boxes

This seems like a simple one, but I can't figure it out.

How do I play back my movie without seeing selection boxes around whatever I've been working on? They're very distracting. I try to de-select, try using different tools, but it seems to want to show me something selected when playing back. In the past I've been choosing the Select Shape tool, but a) that seems like the wrong way to do it, and b) that tools isn't always available.

If you are in Pro, you can turn off the Show Curves checkbox in the bottom right corner:
