Frustrating day.
I have a bunch of vectors following a path. Finally got it working, but wow, follow path is temperamental. Whoever on the dev team is responsible for that feature, carve out some time, will ya?
Anyway, this sounds simple, and probably is, but it's not documented that I can find. I have shapes that look exactly like the shapes that follow a path, except they don't follow any path. I copied the "following" layer to make a new one. So how do I get this copied layer to not follow the path of the original layer? Where is the "Don't follow any path at all" button?

Re: Stop following path
Go to frame zero and click off the path with the follow path tool.
I haven't see this feature being temperamental lately. Do you have an example?

Yeah that does it, thanks!synthsin75 wrote:Go to frame zero and click off the path with the follow path tool.

I have three arrows following the same path in succession. It''s duplicated layers with the translate keyframes slid over a bit so they follow behind. Sometimes not all three arrows will render on playback. Sometimes I'll just get one, or 2 1/2, or all three. I click around on a bunch of things and eventually it straightens itself out.
My arrows don't actually follow the path all the time. Sometimes they make a valiant effort, but go off a little or a lot. I will undo and redo and eventually they will behave.
Sometimes they act as if the origin were set improperly and jump to the wrong spot initially, even though I'm careful to set the origin before making things follow paths.
Lastly, and this is kind of the opposite of it working wrong -- the documentation and my tutorial videos tell me that the following layer must be directly underneath the path layer, but I have found that not to be the case at all, I can move them around and they don't seem to mind.

Re: Stop following path
It doesn't need to be directly beneath the following layer, but it should be lower in the hierarchy (so Moho can process it before trying to process the following layer/s).

Re: Stop following path
Bumping this thread.
Completely different project, same problems.
0. Make sure I'm at Frame 0
1. Create vector layer - set Origin to center of object
2. Create path layer directly above it
3. Click on object layer
4. Click Follow Path tool
5. Click path
6. Go to frame 1
7. Enter 0 percent
8. Go to frame 123
9. Enter 100 percent
Scrub through the timeline and the object follows the contours of the path, but way off to the side. (Also sometimes the rotate option will cause it to rotate but tilted at like 90 degrees, but that suddenly is working right without my doing anything) ??????????????

Re: Stop following path
More frustration. The Rotate to Follow feature seems completely random. Clicking on and off the later causes it to rotate on its own, and the playback rotation changes depending on which OTHER layer I happen to have highlighted. Then sometimes it works fine. Then it won't again.
I deleted all keyframes and started over. By carefully doing everything exactly in the proper sequence I managed to get the object to follow the path more closely, but though at 0% it is exactly right, by the time it gets to 100% it's considerably off. (Not Z-axis or camera adjustments in this project, btw) If I adjust the path to compensate, I can get the object to go where I want it to go, but that's not a convenient option of course.
I've given up. My unicorns are going to fly in straight lines I guess. Grrrrr....
I have a sample project with only the two layers in it which demonstrates this issue. How do I post it here?

Re: Stop following path
Can you post an example?
I use Follow Path at work from time to time. It usually works perfectly for me but, every now and then, I get a situation where the follower doesn't line up as expected. I think it has to do with how the elements for the follower are nested and where the pivot points are positioned.
Sorry, I can't recall the solution I came up with at the time (probably just resetting positions for layers and groups) but maybe if you posted an example scene we can figure out what's happening on your end. You can just replace the art with something generic like squares if you wish.
Just had a thought: the follower 'sprite' need to be animated in place. Could it be that the follower is drifting from place within its local animation?

Re: Stop following path
Check your layers with the Orbit tool to make sure you didn't add an x or y axis rotation to the layer or one of its groups.
