Re: character test
Hi Egyptianboy. This is an awesome video! I love it! I'd also love to know about your techniques, so I can learn from you. I'm sure lots of other people would like to know as well.
Did you really use Moho to do all or most of the work? I'm suspecting that for the character most of it was point animation. Is that correct?
By the way, to post a preview of a youtube video

By the way, to post a preview of a youtube video
- click the youtube button
- tags to your post
- then just add the last part of your youtube video url, in this case it's jSwiWn-imRU

Re: character test
Thanks guys. Thanks Strider 2000
I am happy that u like the girl
Yes , I did all the animation and everything with AS pro 11.2
Well except for 3 things : yellow paper note - music track - the ugly transition
U can see I am not a great video editor
Shakawa character .. in progress .. needs fixes .. tweaks .. and more shots
I learned in this forum .. and i will share and help as possible
thank you

Re: character test
So did you use multiple rigs for your Shakawa character? When I first started I tried to create very complex rigs that did lots of things, but I found I spent most of my time building the rigs. Your animation is so fluid I am thinking you either used frame by frame animation for most of it or had multiple rigs set up for each shot. I'm wondering what you have found the most helpful for you.

Re: character test
Hi .
well , i made standard character .. then copies with some modifications .
- shot ( hands Refine her hair ) ... simple character .. frame 1 i disarranged some points .. then it goes back with hands animation
- shot ( entering MOHO ) ... standard girl .. then switch to girl with special arms pose
- shot ( spinning 360 ) ... action 180 degree .. then flip , match everything in symmetrical at frame ( the flip ) ... cycle .... dizziness animation
- shot ( walking cycle ) ... standard chr ... smarts for dress and head
- shot ( sitting on Moho window ) ... standard chr with performing pose in frame one
- shot ( colors ) .. standard chr ( previous ) , add masks in dress & hair
Note = the hair tress ( her right one ) not belong to head . but the body , and included in body actions , you can tell why .
= the tongue , is separate layer , not masked with head
= shown bones are not bones, but vector layers
= I prefer the classic one layer lips (switch) , not multiple layers rigged with mask and bones , eyes the same .
= the only annoying issue i had , was that freak'n (white stroke thing ) in masks , i had to do extra works to get around it . i wish it fixed on Moho 12
thanks

What a fun way to show off your character and rig. Well done.

Re: character test
Thanks for sharing your approaches Egyptianboy. I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but I think you're saying that you standard character has a fairly simple rig, so you can focus primarily on the art (the vectors). I think you then may add to a copy of your character based on the shot (like smart bones for head turns and an extra tongue layer etc).
I'm a hobbyist with not a lot of time, so sometimes I spend too much time on the rig. I'm trying to learn the balance.
I think your work is beautiful, so I hope we see and hear a lot from you
Thank you very much for sharing.

Re: character test
Ahmed! That's astounding!
Instant Moho hall of 'fame' for that I reckon.
Well I think you should share your rig secrets in a video to show your layer organisation and face masking techniques.
I'm going to watch that again and again.
Also I love the presentation, design and animation.
The technical achievement here is unquestionably of the highest standard and should be an inspiration to even the most experienced users!
I'm actually having trouble getting a character rigged just right at the moment and I was beginning to lose hope, I'm thinking of starting from scratch.
If I could rig like you then I wouldn't be so downhearted.
Welcome Ahmed , please share your secrets.

Re: character test
I 100% agree with chucky! I know there will be lots of people who would love such a video and learn a lot from it. Last year I started a thread I called Current Approaches viewtopic.php?f=9&t=28849. Perhaps I should have called it "How'd they do that?!"chucky wrote:Welcome Ahmed , please share your secrets.

chucky, I definitely understand that feeling. But thanks for sharing, because if you feel that way, it gives me hope. I love your work (especially Crustacea https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RcGC_ZN4DA) Again, that's one of the best I've ever seen.chucky wrote:I'm actually having trouble getting a character rigged just right at the moment and I was beginning to lose hope, I'm thinking of starting from scratch.

As a hobbyist I'm always feeling like I don't have enough time. I imagine you professionals feel the exact same thing with schedules. So I think many of us are looking for the best way to produce high quality as quickly and easily as possible. It's especially hard for me, because there are sooo many things Moho can do. I easily get overwhelmed. I struggle with the balance between the dynamic animating that Victor seems to be such a master at (just take a simple rig and breathe life into it!) and the complex 2.5D rigs that can do so much, but take much longer to set up and have quirks, where I spend so much time working on the rig that I lose sight of animating

Egyptianboy, your work inspires me as some of if not the best of the kind of animation I want to be able to do. I'd love to know as much as I can about, "How'd he do that!?"
