Is there a way to rotate the triangle shape layer so it folds over the other like they're attached with a hinge? I've tried it with the origin set at the top corner and also center, but either way it doesn't rotate the way I want it to.

Re: Layer rotation in 3D space
update: I found a workaround but it's a real pain. If I rotate all the triangle shapes in Photoshop so one edge is at 90 degrees, reimport to Moho, add the rotation keyframe for the 3D rotation, then rotate the layer folder in 2D to put the image back into position.
I'd be grateful if anyone could share a better way to do this because I have about a fifty of these layers.

Never mind. I'm going to do this is Motion 5. There's a "use orientation" setting for transforms that does the trick.

Re: Layer rotation in 3D space
yeah - you can rotate about the cardinal axes but not about an arbitrary line! (I had the same idea about two rotations ..)
This sounds like a useful enhancement for working with images

You can put the layer inside of a group. rotate it and then use the group origin instead.
That way you at least save one step.

Re: Layer rotation in 3D space
it's groups of groups I think ..
Group - rotated about z to "undo" the rotation of static and moving pieces
> Group - origin moved to pivot point - can be rotated as needed about y
>> moving piece - rotated about z to align with y axis
> static piece - rotated about z to align with moving piece
(at least that worked for me)
