Toilet Flush?
I,m wanting to depict money going down the toilet (top view).
I know how to use masking for holes and portals, but can't get my head around this a portal from the top view???
Does anyone think this is possible?
I would appreciate any and all ideas on this concept.
Thank you.
Here is what I'm using:
Mac
OSX El Capitan Ver 10.11.6
Anime Studio Pro Ver.11.2.1

Re: Toilet Flush?
Depends on the the way the toilet flushes
For a kind of vortex situation I would animate a bank note on a spiral path, make it smaller as it approaches the centre. As it reaches the end of the path switch to a bill in that place free from the path and animate its swift "exit" down the drain, maybe using a mask.
Maybe this helps a bit.

Re: Toilet Flush?
Just an idea off the top of my head, haven't actually tried this myself:
Render your vortex animation with the bills flowing outward and render that. Then disable the emitter and import the sequence. Now set the sequence to play backwards. The result should look like money being sucked down a hole.
Let me know if that works.

I took a few minutes to try this with Moho's Particle Layer. It's pretty tricky to do this with Moho's emitter since there are so few settings. I basically tried spinning the emitter, hoping the particles would drift away in a vortex pattern but it's not quite doing what I thought. (It's much easier to do this effect with Trapcode Particular in AE.) I still think it can be done but I don't have the time to explore this today. Sorry. Hope you get something working for you.

A very nice and simple trick: put a bank note layer into a group layer, and set that group layer origin point about half a bank note's length outside of it. Now rotate the bank note layer just a bit and slowly. Rotate the group layer fast, and scale it down over time. You have a bank note twirling and getting smaller now. Multiply and offset timeline.

Maybe this idea can be adapted for it:

Much better than my vortex path. But doesn't account for angular vorticesslowtiger wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 6:35 pm A very nice and simple trick: put a bank note layer into a group layer, and set that group layer origin point about half a bank note's length outside of it. Re: Toilet Flush?
Funny, I had just tried a single bill by animating offsets and rotation...and then I saw SlowTiger beat me to it.
The spiraling arc motion for the single bill looks very nice but I think it would take a lot of replication to fill the vortex effect. But I recall somebody created a cool 'motion graphics' tool for automating offset animations in Moho. I haven't used the tool myself but I was wondering if it might be appropriate here.
Sorry, I don't have the link handy but it was posted here in the forums only a few weeks ago.

Here it is: https://www.lostmarble.com/forum/viewto ... pt#p188761
I just scrubbed through the videos. I don't think I saw anything looking quite like a vortex but maybe this will work?
I definitely want to try this tool out myself anyway.

Re: Toilet Flush?
Before I read any of your replies I came up with this:
[vimeo]https://vimeo.com/371449985[/vimeo]
Just read thru the posts:
@mrc and Greenlaw: I have to look into the vortex idea. also Particles not a solution.(But Thanks for the idea)
@slowtiger:Kind of what I did except I used opacity and visibility instead of scaling (things don't shrink as they flush)
Thanks to all of you taking your time to help me out. I really appreciate it.

Re: Toilet Flush?
It's greyed out on Anime Studio Pro Ver.11.2.1 is there some way of activating it?

Re: Toilet Flush?
Two draw backs it has to be a vector layer (points Needed) and size shrinkage.
Other than that pretty good. Thanks @ synthsin75

Re: Toilet Flush?
If you put the object off center from the layer origin, it's even more convincing.
