'Nother Noob Crisis: Overlapping Shape(s)

Post by suzuki »

Question! In Tutorial 3.1, I'm guessing the forearm passes in front of the upper arm when bent by virtue of ordering and being a separate shape (with shared vertices, right?) (O.K. so far?)

So, I made an arm a la Tutorial 4.4 (Image Textures), using Masking (which I haven't completely figured out just yet), but when the forearm overlaps the upper arm (due to bending), the image texture does not display correctly. It seems that the masking is inverted(?) along a line midway between the overlapping areas. (Know what I mean? :P Sorry, not sure how to describe this mathematically....)

Anyway, how does one construct an arm as in Tut. 3.1, using textures and masking as in Tut. 4.4, such that forearm covers upper arm when bent?

Many thanks (just for reading this goofy post!)

Hi suzuki,

you seem to have found a reproducible bug, or at least a limitation.
I've sent a sample to Lost Marble for investigation.

Regards, Myles.
