Problem in Moho 13

Post by animax940 »

Hello
I have Moho 13 I was using the Moho 12 before and everything was ok until I started using Moho 13
the problem is when I try to control the mouth with smart bones I discovered that I can't add more than one smart bone
the first bone only I can use as a smart bone but the other bones it showing as Action.

This is a known problem in v13.0. If you already have 12.5, stick with that until v13.5 comes out. Most pro users are still using v12.5 and will skip v13.0 and migrate directly to v13.5.

İ know this issue. You should use bone name for ex. ''Leg321'' or ''tm4342'' like . Try it some letters and number it will work.

I suggest not bothering with Moho 13.0. The Smart Bones Action system is effectively broken in this release.

It is better to wait until Moho 13.5 arrives, which should be soon. In the meantime, continue working in 12.5. You will be able to import 12.5 projects into 13.5.

I find that this tended to happen when one bone layer shares bone names with a sub-bone layer, and this happens a lot if you use the default numbered names.

Always give a smartbone an original name.

If you have nested bone layers, use a system to keep them named separately. So my face layers will have an 'eye control' bone in all lower-case and higher layers will use 'Eye Control', with upper-case letters.

The other times this happens to me is when I have a vector layer selected in the layer pane instead of the bone layer containing the intended smartbone.

The problems with Moho 13.0's Smart Bone Action system runs pretty deep. Renaming the bones and SBAs in 13.0 will not fix some issues because the Actions are referencing internal IDs, not user accessible names like it does in Moho 12.5. This is problematic when rigging and animating characters that repurpose base rigs and rig parts, and re-use Smart Bone Actions.

IMO, it really is best to regress to Moho 12.5, or wait for Moho 13.5 to come out. Moho 13.5's Smart Bone Actions use Moho 12.5's name-based system, and it will not have these problems. I've never had an issue with re-using the same bone names and action names in rigs between different characters in Moho 12.5, but of course each character should have unique bone and action names within its rig. (As a matter of fact, Moho won't allow duplicate bone names in the same bone layer...which can actually be leveraged as a useful rigging trick when creating bone chains. I'll explain that technique elsewhere. 😺)

All that said, yes, it's definitely good practice to give each bone and Smart Bone Action a clear descriptive name. The default bone name (i.e, B1, B2, etc.,) isn't very helpful when you have hundreds of bones and actions--without clear names, it becomes difficult to identify them.
