(SOLVED) Hair not moving in sync with head despite being in the same layer

Post by MacCraw »

I rigged (or am rigging, just missing a leg and a layer of clothing re: point binding) a character and all of the bones work properly for both a head turn and for ordinary movement of limbs.

BUT the problem is that as stated, my character's "rear hair" (behind her head), despite being in the same folder as the head, doesn't move in sync with the head whenever I use the head bone on the main layer (the whole character's body, to be perfectly clear), where if I tilt the character's head or neck to the side, the hair will drift out away from it.

As far as I know, the points aren't bound to any bones - there's the head folder, which is a bone (for the head turn), and the rear hair is at the bottom of the order within that folder.

What I feel might be essential to mention is that the head turn works just fine, and I've done a few head turns now without issues. The hair works just fine with that and stays in place with the head turn, but to reiterate, it's the only part of the head that doesn't play ball with the rest of the head folder/bone/bone folder whenever I tilt the head or neck from side to side using the main bones. I could sure use some help in figuring out why this is the case.

Also, as a secondary question while I'm here and since head turns are a part of this (potentially, anyway), is there a way to mirror some or all of a head turn (for like a shake head motion or something like that, not a mere horizontal flip)?

Check the z-depth of that layer. You can use orbit view to see why it's floating away.

How do I do that?

EDIT: Never mind, I figured it out on my own. Thank you for putting me on the right path with it!
