Making hole in shape...again
Hello,
Looked in the forum but most post are quite old.
Quite new to Moho.
I don't get how to do this. Looked up the MOHO tutorial but that wasn't much help.
Is there a step by step laying around somewwhere?
I don't know why I am struggling with this basic hole in shape...
Thanks.
UPDATE: Ok. I figured it out. I make the shape and place the holes and then create the shape. Works.

Before you make the vectors for your shape, I'd recommend disabling 'auto stroke' and 'auto fill' at the top of the screen. Draw your shape with the hole in it. Use the selection tool to pick the points involved in the shape. Then use the 'create object' tool. The object will turn into a red/white checkerboard indicating the areas that will be filled-in (make sure auto-fill/auto-stroke are on for this tool). Press enter, and you should be on your way.
If you have an object and you want to add a hole, use the 'delete object' tool (shaped like an X). This will remove the fill/stroke, but leave the vectors behind. Add your hole, select your points, then use the 'create object' tool.
Another way to add a hole is to use the 'Reveal All' version of masking, which is handy for holes that break the edge of the object, like the opening of a helmet.

Thank you for the valuable information.
Re: Making hole in shape...again
In case you didn't see it or someone ends here looking for it, there is a tutorial specifically for this, on the page 59 of the Moho Tutorial Manual, called "Tutorial 2.2: Drawing Shapes with Holes".
Re: Making hole in shape...again
Indeed.
That's the tutorial I was referring too.
It wasn't very usefull for me.
Maybe I just misread it...

Re: Making hole in shape...again
Well, to be honest, I remember struggling with more than a few things at the beggining. Moho's usability is a little bit special sometimes so it takes a little bit to get used to it.

I've been wondering about something. Maybe you know the answer...MrMiracle77 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 20, 2021 7:41 pm Before you make the vectors for your shape, I'd recommend disabling 'auto stroke' and 'auto fill' at the top of the screen. After I press Enter and see the checkerboard, I oftentimes press the Enter key again, expecting the checkerboard to go away and leave the colored shape (instead of pressing escape to remove the checkerboard). Pressing Enter a second times does nothing, though. Was there an earlier version of Moho where pressing the Enter key a second time ended the checkerboard? It feels like "muscle memory" is happening in my hand, like my hand really wants to press Enter twice. Also, is there a way to add that functionality? I figure, I might as well -- if it's possible -- since my hand wants to do it so bad.
Thanks for mentioning the Delete Shape tool. I had forgotten it existed.

Using the old style shortcuts, space finalizes a shape and enter deselects. I always prefer this option.

Re: Making hole in shape...again
Thank you! Yeh, I was trying to use the spacebar, too.
Re: Making hole in shape...again
Kind of a side note, but I'm sure the following new feature in 13.5.1 is being overlooked by many users: Select Shape now has a Select All button. This makes it much easier to delete all shapes in a layer and keep the curves. Previously, you had to Shift-'scribble' over every shape in the layer to select them all, but now you can just click Select All. Once selected, you can delete the shapes by pressing the delete key, or you make a global change to all the selected shapes at once.
It may seem like a minor enhancement, but I find this button very useful.

I didn't realize that a Select All button had been added. Thanks for pointing it out. I'm sure I will find this useful.

Nice.
Thanks.
I also didn't notice the select all.Edit>Preferences>Tools>Classic point editing keyboard shortcuts
