3D objects issue

Ok, below you can see my 3D model has a very thick black outline. Any ideas on how do I get rid of it? Also below is a screenshot of what my model should look like (not as many polys though).

about the outlines there is a window inside "Layer settings" called "3D Options" where you can choose edge color and also edge offset, try lowering the offset.
