Clear Animation Not Cyclic Actions
Hi.
I am working on a large project atm where we re-use scenes and am wondering
if there was a way to clear all animated key frames but leave smart bone actions?
Every time I have used this option in the past it always cleared the Smart bone
actions along with timeline animation.
Thanks for any help.

Re: Clear Animation Not Actions
Clear animation shouldn't touch actions. At least I've never seen it clear actions.
Just tested, and 13.5.4 doesn't seem to.

Thanks Wes.
I must admit when I tried it last time it was on a very early version and I have
been wary to do so ever since. This will be very handy for the current project.
Cheers

Re: Clear Animation Not Actions
Always a good practice to do such drastic stuff on a copy of the file, just in case.

Re: Clear Animation Not Actions
Hi Wes.
Just went back into the project and took an other look. Here's the Actual problem, it wasn't an issue with
smart bone actions, the issue is with some particular files that have cyclic actions, in this case, water ripples.
It would be fantastic if there was a setting in Moho to leave cyclic actions alone when clearing animation data.

Re: Clear Animation Not Cyclic Actions
Can you just make those actions, and then re-add them to the mainline as actions?
That, or copy the keys before clearing and then pasting them back? Or clear a copy of the file and copy/paste the cycle keys back in.

Re: Clear Animation Not Cyclic Actions
Hi Wes.
Thanks for the work arounds. I might try copy pasting for now but it would be a nice option to be able to select the folders you don't want erased
before running clear animation. Like a smart clear option

Re: Clear Animation Not Cyclic Actions
Could be scripted. Basically a clear animation for all but the selected layers kind of script.
If I find the time, I might look into it. No promises.

Re: Clear Animation Not Cyclic Actions
I haven't tried this but will Wes lock layer script prevent the keys from being deleted?
I'm guessing it's not going to protect it from Clear Animation but maybe worth trying.
Update: it does work! Of course, while this will preserve the cycle keyframes in the layer, it will also keep other keyframes in the layer. But this does make the task easier.
Update #2: Nope, nope. Sorry, my bad; the script does not prevent Clear Animation from a locked layer. See below.

Re: Clear Animation Not Cyclic Actions
D'oh! I did this test wrong. I used Clear From Layer when I should have used Clear From Document. When I did this correctly, it also cleared the locked layer. That's what I originally expected to happen...and it did.
Oh well. Sorry for the false hope.

Re: Clear Animation Not Cyclic Actions
Thanks for looking into that Greenlaw! I started to see a glimmer of hope
The characters we are animating have walk cycles on their feet in a switch
layer but there are also other elements in the scenes based on cycles as well.
Cheers
