No crosshairs in my bones
Whenever I draw bones, my bones are much thinner and lack the crosshairs that I see in every other tutorial on bones. I also lack any tools in the bone bind layer (lasso?). I have gone to Bone > Reset All Bone Rigging, but that didn't help. I'm sure the solution is obvious. I just can't find it. Any suggestions?

That's what bones look like now, but in 13.5.4 you can change the width between narrow, medium, & wide from the preferences, Layers/objects tab.
Layer binding tools only show when you select a layer inside the bone layer, and there's at least one bone in the bone layer.

Here's some additional info...
The bone pivot point has always been located at the end corner of the bone, and the old crosshair design design could make the location of the pivot confusing. IMO, it's clearer now with the crosshair design removed.
Many tools in the Tools window only appear contextually, meaning you only see them when you can use them. This makes it clearer what you can do in Moho in the current circumstance.
Reset All Bone Rigging does not affect the Tool Box. What this does is resets the binding in your rig to the default settings. You can use this when you mess up the binding and aren't sure how to fix it. I use it because it's often faster than trying to fix a messed up binding.
To use it, select the bones that seem to be misbehaving, and then select the command. Moho will reset the binding for the selected bones only. Be sure to make a selection, otherwise Moho will assume you want to reset the entire rig.
Hope this helps.

Re: No crosshairs in my bones
Thanks guys for clearing up my questions on bone appearance. I thought the appearance of my bones might have something to do with the tools not appearing. I do have my vector layers grouped in a bone layer collection. Don't laugh: my problem was selecting the bind layer option instead of bind points when I needed it. I learned building and rigging on Toon Boom Harmony (but who can afforded that anymore??!!), and so I wasn't seeing the tools I was expecting (d'oh!).
Do you work with the skinny bones or do you change their appearance (they can be hard to see when the bone color is the same as the image color). I'm still not seeing the option to change bone appearance in the Preferences option. Any suggestions?

IMO, Harmony is excellent for FBF animation but Moho is better for rigged puppet animation.
I rigged some of our early Croods characters in Harmony. It worked okay for us but the performance was too slow at the time and the Harmony rigs didn't offer nearly the flexibility we got from Moho rigs, so we switched to Moho in the third season.
As for Bone options, I like Medium myself...Narrow is just a little too skinny and it's hard to see the bone colors. Wide is pretty good for color visibility but it can get cluttered in areas where you have many bones, like in the face. Just use the size that works best for you and your character designs.
To change the Bone width, look in Preferences under the Layer/Objects tab; the option is in the bottom left corner of the window. If you're not seeing the option, make sure you have Moho 13.5.4 installed. You can download 13.5.4 from the Lost Marble website here....

Onigosh, when I got home today, I got the update for 13.5.4 notification and now can find the bone width option in the Layers/Object panel!
Thanks so much for your help and patience. You have been very helpful and kind. I'm off to point bind!!

Yeah, I like medium bone widths too.
