One idea I had while preparing the above example was to use an 'invisible' effector item to trigger the leaves falling from the branches. This is a trick I sometimes use in 3D programs, but unfortunately Moho doesn't provide enough control to do this gently as needed in this situation. (I wound up staggering the timing by offsetting each leaf's physics animation in Sequencer.)
Just putting it out there in case anybody else wants to try.
