mesh warping

Post by julgul »

Hi there. I am a newb, so apologies for probably asking a very basic question. On page 237, the Moho manual walks you through creating a mesh using the Draw Shape-->Grid tool. When I try this, some of the quads cut a hole in the image layer. I also tried creating a mesh by drawing it with the Add Point tool like in this video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HP85jJGhf8&t=531s ) but I still got the same result. What am I getting wrong?

That's odd. I haven't seen that tutorial but when you're using the Draw Shape tool in Grid mode, all the shapes in the Grid should be created automatically (assuming you have Auto-fill enabled.)

You could try killing all the shapes in the grid and then regenerating them. To do this...

1. Using the Select Shape tool, select one shape and the click the Select All button in the tool options bar. This will select all the shapes. Note: the Select All button is a Moho 13.5 feature. If you're using Moho 12.5 or earlier, you need to hold Shift and then click-drag the cursor over the shapes to select them all.

2. Press delete to remove the shapes. This leaves you with a grid wireframe.

3. In Moho 13.5, use Script >Draw >Fill Quad Mesh to generate new shapes for the grid. In Moho 12.5 and earlier use Draw >Triangulate 2D Mesh. The difference is Moho 13.5 can use quads or triangles and Moho 12.5 and earlier must use triangles.

Oh, I see. So in Moho 13 you don't have to triangulate the mesh? Is that right? I am in Moho 13 and followed the steps you provided, and it worked. Thanks! It seems like when I do use Triangulate 2d Mesh, this is when it cuts out every other row and column. Hmm, the manual is not super helpful in explaining this. Thank you so much for answering my question.

Moho mesh system was improved on the latest versions so maybe the manual is still lagging behind. This is a short official tutorial on the new live mesh workflow that is probably the simplest for images. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHNvjlcR8tI

Be sure to use 13.5, not 13.0. All of the important mesh improvements are in 13.5.

You might also consider using the new Create SmartWarp Layer feature (13.5 only.) It's not suitable for everything but it's amazingly interactive and fun to work with, especially with photo images.

Thanks for your reply Daxel and for the link. I think you are right about the manual. Create Smart Mesh is not even mentioned in the manual. I guess the best way to learn Moho is on their youtube channel.
