Hi,
So i understand that we can mask layers on top of a base layer, so that the masked layers are contained within the boundary of the base layer. I understand how masking can be used to create a mouth for a character. It works great.
But what if i want that mouth group to be masked inside a face? I tried making the head group (face layer + mouth group), but it does not simply mask the mouth group within the face, instead it uses the face layer as a base for all the other layers ie. including all the layers of mouth group. So my question is, is there a way to use mask within masks?
The "quick settings" (mask inside / outside bottom layer) are helpful as they're commonly needed.
But if you go to the masking tabs on the layers, there are more options that allow you to build more complex masks -- and that's what the following examples are founded on.
You can use a group to create a mask.
e.g.
group maskgroup - hide all
>vector object - mask this layer
>vector mask - add invisibly to mask
Then use that maskgroup as a mask
e.g.
group scene - reveal all
>vector object - mask this layer
> group maskgroup (from above) - subtract from mask

Ah! From the wording in the OP, I'd assumed you'd tried them and decided they weren't good enough! -- You get them (along with other frequently needed actions) by right click on a group layer in the layers window.
Is it possible that may be those options were available in older moho versions? I am using 13.5.
Edit : To be more clear, i do get the quick actions, and the other options you mentioned are there. i just that i thought there is a "mask inside / mask outside bottom layer" option as well, so was looking for that exact option.

umm... that is weird. It does not show up in mine for some reason. So i guess its broken, i may have to reinstall.
Meanwhile i have created this blank file with group and bone layers for test. Could someone please check if it shows up with right click in yours to confirm... (i am using 13.5)
