Toon Boom Studio Express
USD $99.99

Toon Boom Studio
USD $399.99

--------------------------

as it is one cannot make a comprehensive multi-scene, multi-sound file animation using moho alone.....until it can (and solve some other situations as discussed in other forum topics) $99 is a very fair price. moho is an unfinished work that is not really ready for prime time.
it´s a fun program and has lots of potential, but has many fundamental weaknesses that need to be solved.

Hello everone! First post here. I just want to add that I think
its great to hear that the development will continue from another
company. Having a daughter myself I know it takes time being a father so I understand you cant continue on your own. Its incredible you built this yourself I allways thought this was a small company but at least with a couple of guys running it so lots of kudos on that. One thing though, please make sure you keep the Linux version alive.

No, we have not. LM has set his price, not the users.
When i needed a cut-out software I did quite an in depth test of the softwares avilable, I found 3 cut-out animation softwares(!);
Creatoon, after a week of testing proved to suck and at the price of 399 euro.
CelAction I found, would have been a good software if it were not for the price, ~3000 euros (which as an independent animator was on the heavy side of my budget).
Then I found Moho and it was all I've seached for, at the ridiculous price of 99$. I could have paid ten times that for a software this good but LM had set the price.
If I pay 99$ is there a standard amount of support, feature request and complaints I can do for that price? If the price of the software were higher could I demand more? I think the answer is no. A software has a steady base of users, the developer must see to these users, estimate what these users need and demand and set the price of the software after that. The users should not set their demands after the price...
(LM, I'm sorry if I sound a bit harsh but were all in a business here and we need you so we can deliver what our customers want...)

was talking to some friends about moho and everyone thought moho was just a year or two old. one person said the software has been around for quite a while...since 1999. sure enough she showed me the link:

7th year anniversary coming up soon! :D

----------
as much as it is an animation program i think of moho as a low-priced, stripped-down version of adobe after effects - without all the bells and whistles that ae has in it. if one has something fairly simple that they want to animate quick and easy without all the fancy effects, multiple sounds (and higher learning curve) that ae offers, moho is the way to go. :D
i am interested to see how moho develops, if it develops at a much faster pace than in the past or will the new marketing bureaucracy partnership dictate updates on an annual or longer interval.

LM has spoken. Give him a break. Go make some animation.

A software is a tool. Like it, use it. Don't like it try something else or blame your ability.

Personally, I've used Moho since V1.2. I've produced two fully animated commercial karaoke VCD for kids. Many trailers and pitches for television series. Three series (13 episodes x 24minutes) of animation for television and working on another. MOHO makes it possible for me to do this with an animation crew of three person (plus two part timers) I'm indebted to LM.

Coming from a place where I can find bootleg software for the most expensive animation system (Retas, Animo, US animation you name it) AND I've tried it all, I chose to support this little software call MOHO. It has been my secret weapon and I hope it can be yours.

I don't know LM personally but I wish him all the best and hope he continues to improve MOHO.

nuff said .... returning to the dark hole to do some animation.

Sine - Impressive! :D :D :D

regarding all your series and projects you made with moho - you ONLY used moho? - no other software or other video and audio tools?
you make all the scenes together in one long moho project, plus have only one sound file that you insert in your moho file? you use no other software or other video compositing and audio tools, just moho?
(tried to visit your website, but my connection must be bad over here, couldn´t hook up to see any of your work. i will try later. :D look forward to seeing your work! ) :D

I use flash for storyboarding. (still at version 5) I draw using a wacom tablet.
Occasionally photoshop for retouching. (still at version 5 too)
Sony Vegas (V5) for animatics. Audio recording. Final edit and output to DV
I use Animation Master for 3D. (V9) Truespace V3
A bunch of tools like VirtualDUB. AVIsynth.

Everything else in MOHO.

Since using and tailoring my work towards MOHO's strenghts, I find myself neglecting many software I've owned like Premiere (V5) AfterEffects(V4) Digital Fusion (V??)

Some of my work in MOHO gallery under Rixin Huang or Cartoon Workshop.
My website is obsolete. No time to make pretty web pages. Spending too much time writing this already. :)

great news! congrats to you LM!!

I think those are great news. I was actually hoping that such a thing would happen when I bought Moho few months ago. I will be ok to pay more for it, knowing it is more stable and few improvements.
I think it would be nice also to know that whoever keep programming Moho, will listen to major artist and animators. From motion designers like me to old school animators 2D and people from the 3D community as well.
Software like Toonboom are to close to 2D traditional animation.
Moho has a potential to sit between After Effects, Flash and Toonboom. It is offering tools that offer animations ways, that are impossible.

Take a look at this commercial that I directed, designed and animated. It was made with After Effects and Moho. Though very simple, some effect would have been such a pain in After Effects and vice versa.
