I remember asking for this problem back in 2021. But as I was working on this rig I again came up with this error where Eye gradient breaks, don't know why even though I have turned all the bone's strength to 0.
Gradients only move by bone strength. So if you increase the bone strength of the vertical bone of each eye, so the strength region covers the eye, the gradient will then follow these bones.
