Moho won't start any more

Post by Hugging_Bear »

Hi guys,
now, Moho even doesn't start on my regular computer (Win10):
Edition Windows 10 Home
Version 22H2
Installiert am ‎06.‎11.‎2020
Betriebssystembuild 19045.2965
Leistung Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19041.1000.0

Gerätename User-PC
Prozessor Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4340 CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz
Installierter RAM 16,0 GB (15,9 GB verwendbar)
Geräte-ID 4E098007-0163-4532-B305-8B44CD897018
Produkt-ID 00326-10000-00000-AA643
Systemtyp 64-Bit-Betriebssystem, x64-basierter Prozessor
Stift- und Toucheingabe Für diese Anzeige ist keine Stift- oder Toucheingabe verfügbar.

Sorry - some of the information is in German. I'm pretty sure there was an OS-update. Any ideas?

PS: I run the monitor in a 1366x768 resolution ... could this be the problem? (I tried the recommended resolution, it doesn't make any difference)

I'm guessing everything else runs ok?
No error message when trying to run moho - just a big fat nothing happens?

This might start to shed some light:

fresh reboot
open task manager (ctrl-alt-del; chose the task manager option) and the "more details" option. Click on the "memory" column to sort by memory usage (moho is usually around 100Mb without files loaded)

Is moho already there? if so, end process and try to start it again. If not, start it and see if a task is created. If no task, then check that the shortcut still refers to the right moho.exe (e.g. "C:\Program Files\Moho\Moho.exe")

...
let me know if any of that helps or not?!

I grew impatient and uninstalled and reinstalled Moho ... it seems to work again (but I have to customize everything again :( )

I was about to suggest that...I'm guessing a moho program or settings file got corrupted.

For the Custom Content folder, I always make a back up of a known good version, just in case something goes wrong there. I literally just duplicate the folder and add a BU at the end. Once you point your Moho to it, the tools and some other settings should get restored. You will need to reselect Keyboard shortcuts, assuming you saved them previously in the Custom Content folder.

For Preferences, yeah, you'll need to reset those. I believe it's possible to reuse a previous settings file but because in this case that might be corrupted, it's best to reset your preferred settings. FWIW, I used to make screen caps of my Preference settings so I have a quick reference, but I've set them so often I know my favorites options by heart now. :D
