blend modes not working

blend modes not working

When i try use the blend modes, nothing happens, it just turns them to a different colour, when i try use luminosity it just cause it to grey with a glow? any one know if its bug or a sollution. been stuck like this for a while.

You will see blend mode results only in the final render. Tried that?
AS 9.5 MacPro Quadcore 3GHz 16GB OS 10.6.8 Quicktime 7.6.6
AS 11 MacPro 12core 3GHz 32GB OS 10.11 Quicktime 10.7.3
Moho 13.5 iMac Quadcore 2,9GHz 16GB OS 10.15
