Help!! export bone rotation to after effects

Post by aissamotion »

Hello everyone I am new to moho, I animated a walk cycle in moho and exported it to use it in after effects, the character does not have hands Because I have them already animated frame by frame the hands are just a video, I want to link them to the forearms, I used a moho script that exports forearm bone postion as a .txt file so I just have to copy and paste the data to my hand video postion in after effects and will be linked to forearm, till here everything works greate, But my CHallenge is that the bone has rotation, the hand needs to follow the rotation of the bone as well because it's off as you can see here https://ibb.co/dmtZVtt, I tried chatgpt to help me acheive that and chnage the script to be a script that export bone rotation but the way moho calculates angle values is not the same as AE does,

I would just import the hand footage as an image sequence or video to Moho, and parent it to the character's hand bone.

Is the issue that the hands are not locked in position in the source footage? If that's the situation, that's a very big problem. But if the hands are locked in position (ideally, at the wrist), just add them to the character rig.

Sure. AFAIK, there are two scripts for transferring the camera data, one by PonySmasher and another by SimplSam, but I don't think I've seen one for transferring other data like layer or bone positions.

Here is one potential pathway for getting this capability...

Moho can export at least some of this data via FBX, but unfortunately, After Effects doesn't read FBX natively. I found a script from AeScripts.com that supposedly added this functionality to After Effects, but it doesn't appear to work with recent releases of Ae. I've been meaning to contact the developer about this issue, but I have too much going on with the LGD channel right now and decided to deal with it later.

Another possible workaround is to use a 3D program that can import FBX and link with Ae. Maya and LightWave have this capability, and they work very well. I've used these features with other programs to get this data into Ae, but haven't tried this with Moho yet.

If you can follow through with any of this, please let me know how it goes.
